I was an Humble ISD correspondent at the 2024 Houston Sports Awards. Kingwood Park coach Eric Coovert was nominated for the Inspiration Award after defeating cancer — a journey I first covered in October. I interviewed Coovert about the experience of the night. I also interviewed the manager of the Astros Joe Espada (video on the right) about the impact of high school coaches like Coovert and his own high school experience.

A new schedule was implemented at Kingwood Park High School after multiple fights broke out. The policy was implemented the same day as a fight-related gun threat. The minority of students who attended school shared their thoughts on the new policy.
