My name is Maya Ortiz.

At Kingwood Park High School, I started my journalism career telling stories through articles, design, social media, videos and photography. I was named the National Scholastic Press Association Photojournalist of the Year in 2021 and 2022.

I am currently studying English at Yale University. I am continuing my media career as a creative intern for the Yale Athletic Department and my evolutionary biology career as a research assistant in the Invertebrate Paleontology division of the Yale Peabody Museum.
