Senior JD McCombs waves a gold flag in support of families battling childhood cancer after the school’s Go Gold pep rally on Sept. 22. The school raised almost $6,000 for pediatric cancer research during the month of September.

The photo was one of eight in my 2023 National Student Media Contest Photo Portfolio that earned a superior rating. This photo also was one of six in my 2023 TAJE Fall Fiesta photo portfolio that earned a superior rating.

Junior Avery Steinke loves music and attends concerts whenever she and her friends find one in the area. Steinke has attended nine concerts this year.

Freshman swimmer Elena Amos has already made an impact on the swim team, breaking the school record in the 50 free and the 100 fly. She also swims for Blue Tide Aquatics and hopes to someday represent El Salvador in the Olympic Games.

This photo won a superior distinction in TAJE Best in Print News and Broadcast for the Portrait category. This photo also earned third place for 5A portrait photo in the ILPC IAA competition.
